SUPER stallion More Than Ready left no one in doubt – not least his biggest fan Gai Waterhouse – why he is regarded as the supreme 2YO sire of the world with his progeny winning one of the first official juvenile heats of the season today.
Three heats were set aside at Randwick for a handful of Breeders Plate/Gimcrack and eventually Golden Slipper hopefuls with one taken out in impressive order by Waterhouse’s filly Sugar Rush.
A $600,000 Magic Millions purchase, Sugar Rush dived through runners to score her heat in a time of 44.3 seconds.
The filly – bred by John Singleton – is the first foal of the Group 3 H.D.F McNeil Stakes and Debutant Stakes winner, Sugar Babe, who also placed in a Magic Night, Blue Diamond Prelude and Thousand Guineas Prelude.
Waterhouse has already famously taken out one Golden Slipper with a More Than Ready namely Sebring in 2008.
Triple trio “Gai, More Than Ready and Singo” will team up on Saturday to cheer on the 8-times Group 1 winner More Joyous whose Cox Plate campaign begins when she lends her weight to the Sheraco Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill.
