IT may not compare with a Cox Plate or a Golden Slipper but prolific racehorse syndicator Dean Watt can now say ‘Newcastle Spring Provincial Cup’ – ”won it!” in the wake of Mossman gelding Midnight At Ascot’s triumph this afternoon.
The 5YO gelding has been racing through a purple patch of form with four wins from his last five starts highlighted by the rich Magic Millions Country Cup in January.
The Darren Smith trained charge has won a total of 7 races and over $115,000 inside 26 starts with a further four placings.
“I know they have always had a good opinion of this horse and he has matured and really started to deliver,” said Vinery Stud’s Conor Phelan.
“Darren has been happy to keep his score ticking over at the provincials but boosted the earnings with the win at the Coast on Magic Millions in a race worth over $80,000. He has placed him beautifully and the horse has responding well.”
