Stakes winning Mossman two-year-old Agister was back in the winner’s circle again after a powerful all-the-way win in yesterday’s Dooley’s Handicap (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens.
The Allan Denham-trained entire’s last victory came during the autumn when taking out the Listed Eskimo Prince Stakes (1200m) at Warwick Farm.
Agister races in the familiar purple and white design of Geoff and Beryl White and is a grandson of their champion mare Triscay who won five Group 1 races during an extraordinary career.
The four-year-old is bred on the Mossman/Danehill cross exactly the same as stakeswinners Absalon and Kiwi Hoofit and similar to Buffering and Stirling Grove.
Agister has won 4 of his 10 starts with earnings over over $230,000.
“He was always a horse with talent and speed right from day one and with that pedigree he has more than his share of stallion potential later on being a stakeswinner of a well known and reputable race like the Eskimo Prince,” says Vinery’s Conor Phelan.
“But in saying that, the way he won yesterday suggests that he has plenty still to offer on the racetrack and I am sure that the stable has a few more nice races on the agenda with the spring approaching.”
