TESTA Rossa filly Pane in the Glass is the punters favourite to win the prestigious Group 1 MRC One Thousand Guineas (1600m) run at Caulfield on November 12.
The John Thompson trained three-year-old is quoted at $10 to win the $502,000 feature ahead of Shared Reflections and More Than Ready’s Golden Slipper placegetter, Elite Falls both at $11.
Pane in the Glass, together with Elite Falls, was rated as joint top 2YO fillies for the 2010/2011 season according to the official Classifications.
Elite Falls was the first filly home in the Golden Slipper while Pane in the Glass managed to place in both the AJC Sires Produce Stakes Gr.1 and Champagne Stakes Gr.1 after that.
”Pane in the Glass has always looked like she’d develop into a supreme miler and obviously plenty of people agree given that she’s gone up as favourite to win the Guineas,” said Vinery’s Adam White.
“Pane in the Glass looks likely to enjoy a good Spring following the lead of other Testa fillies like Sistine Angel and Rostova last year.”
“In the current climate many investors turn to gold, most astute breeders turn to the handful of proven value sires like Testa Rossa. There are few consistent Top Ten Australian Sires close to him in fee and as such there are few nominations left.”
As for Elite Falls, she has the advantage of having been the Melbourne way of going early in her career, something which should stand her in good stead come the spring.
”Elite Falls won the Inglis Banner at Moonee Valley on Cox Plate day at only her second race start – that’s the race that Starspangledbanner won the year before – so if she can get around the Valley, Caulfield shouldn’t pose any problems whatsoever.”
Elite Falls, trained by John O’Shea, finished an eye-catching second in a recent barrier trial at Randwick.
