MOSSMAN gelding Second Effort contiuned his emergence as one of Victorian’s most promising gallopers with another easy win in today’s MVRC Caffetto Sprint (1200m) around Moonee Valley.
It marked the Clinton McDonald trained four-year-olds sixth win from just 13 career starts with his last four coming with a cummulative total of more than ten lengths.
“He is in terrific form and any horse that can put four races in a row is going places,” said McDonald,”it’s very exciting.
“He is going through his grades lovely at the moment.
“We’ll head towards the (Winter Championship) final now at Flemington, it’s a $150,000 race there for him which will be his target and then we’ll reassess from there.”
Second Effort has rapidly taken his earnings beyond $160,000 with the promise of more to come.
The gelding is the first foal of his Geiger Counter dam, Relativity, who won five races in Adelaide and is herself a daughter of the WATC Gimcrack Stakes winner, Western Zip.
