GROUP 1 winning two-year-old and Vinery resident Excites sired his fifth individual winner from 11 runners of his first crop when WA gelding Flag Officer demolished his rivals on debut in the West yesterday.

The Paul Jordan trained youngster used his superior pace to take up the running and lead at a solid tempo throughout and was never threatened.

Flag Officer was under a tight hold as the field entered the straight and was quickly able to put the issue beyond doubt dashing clear passing the 250m to score by a comfortable 2.8-lens.

”That was an impressive effort, particularly from a horse having only his first start in a race,” says Vinery’s Conor Phelan.

”Flag Officer is trained at Ascot so I would imagine that his trainer might be looking at coming to town on the ease of that win.”

Excites has made a fantastic start to his stud career with 5 winners from only 11 starters including the brilliant Queensland filly, Amber’s Crown, who has pocketed over $220,000 for connections from her initial preparation.
