TESTA Rossa’s reputation as one of the nation’s most prolific sires will go unchallenged while ever the Vinery resident keeps churning out the ‘winning doubles’.
Yesterday’s Warrnambool meeting in Victoria delivered a race-to-race double for the six-times Group 1 winner beginning with the emphatic victory of Cranbourne visitor Ruber Rex.
The grey gelding posted his sixth career victory when strolling away to a 5-lens win in the Optus Business Rising Stars Handicap (1400m).
Soon after, Jarrod Mclean’s stakes-placed Nicastro ploughed through to going to claim the feature TROA Luxbet Winter Championship Open Handicap over 1300m.
Nicastro is one of Testa Rossa’s 69 stakes performers with earnings in excess of $220,000.
Testa Rossa is one of a handful of stallions to have sired over 100 winners this season and is yet again firmly entrenched in the top ten sires list along with associate sire, More Than Ready (fourth).
