VINERY 2011 recruit Congrats is rapidly closing in on a phenomenal 50 winners with another of his first crop graduates saluting in the USA during the week.
Three-year-old colt Trump Card (ex Jalshecon) proved too good for his rivals in a Calder Maiden over 1100m.
Trump Card is a member of the same crop that helped Congrats snare the Champion First Season Sire honours in 2010 with 25 individual winners, two Grade One winner’s and four Grade One performers included among them. From 114 first crop foals a remarkable 83 have already raced and producing a burgeoning list of 48 winners (57% winners to runners) in what is a stunning start to Congrats career.
With 2yo racing just beginning, Congrats has had the solitary 2yo runner from his second crop, Royal Promise, which won by 2.5length’s on debut in mid May.
”Aside from the fact that Congrats was Champion First Season last year, the most pleasing aspect is that a whole lot of those two-year-olds are training on at three, while there are a good number of debut winners that we didn’t see race as two-year-olds,” says Vinery’s Adam White.
”He is a very exciting sire and the response we have had from Australian and New Zealand breeders in his first year at Vinery is tremendous.”
