MORE Than Ready two-year-old Mahisara earned himself a trip to Brisbane for a tilt at some Winter carnival riches after scoring an impressive all the way win in today’s TJ’s Champagne Bar Handicap (1250m).
The Paul Messara-trained colt was heavily fancied punters owing to his 1.5-lens debut win at Kembla on may 3.
”I thought he had improved a couple of lengths but going on that he might have improved five,” Messara stable foreman Barry Whittle declared.
”He is a very hard horse to gauge at home because he is so quiet but I noticed today that out here he was more switched on and it was good.
”On the way to the gates he certainly let Christian (Reith) know what he was here about and I am pretty sure Paul might just put him on the next float up to Queensland after that.
”He just flies the gates so well this horse and has such a beautiful stride so there is no point wasting it and holding him back.”
Mahisara’s win comes a day after More Than Ready book-ended the Kensington meeting with patio winning the opener and More Than Royal making it back-to-back wins in the final race.
