IT is a simple case of the proverbial ‘deja vu all over again’ after Vinery’s leading son of A.P. Indy, Congrats sired a 2YO winner from his first 2nd crop runner in the USA on the weekend.

Royal Promise, a Florida-bred filly by Congrats out of Royal Halo, led throughout to win her debut in the Calder maiden Special Weight over 4 1/2 furlongs (about 900m) by 2 3/4 lengths.

”It’s exactly the start that we would have hoped for,” says Vinery Stud’s Adam White.

Vinery’s leading son of A.P. Indy sired 22 individual 2YO winners from his first crop, including two Group 1 winners, and was crowned Champion First Season Sire in the USA off the back of those outstanding results.

”We are delighted that that crop, now three-year-olds, have in no way dropped off, if anything they have improved with Portside his latest 3yo Stakes winner.

”And now we have the first two-year-old winner from Congrats second crop with his very first runner.  Despite winning his 2yo debut impressively, Congrats improved with age to be at his peak as a 5yo, so the early success of his first two crops to race is quite astonishing.”

”It’s all very positive – much like the response we have had from breeders here in Australia who have made their intentions known to us to support the horse in his first year.”
