CONNECTIONS of Mossman two-year-old Hendricus were the big winners at this week’s famous two-day Wagga racing carnival after the colt scooped the pool in the lucrative Inglis Bonus Handicap (1200m) yesterday.
Hendricus was having only his second start in a race on Thursday having finished 0.8-lens second to Invest on debut at Canterbury over 1250m last month.
The John O’Shea trained youngster was eligible for a $50,000 bonus on top of the $8000 purse plus $5000 in BOBS payments adding up to a whopping $63,000 pay day.
Ironically, that figure almost exactly matches his $62,500 purchase price at the 2010 Australian Easter Yearling sale.
Hendricus is a half brother to O’Shea’s star mare Warparth who won the Listed Aspiration Quality during her autumn carnival campaign.
