JUST days after Vinery announced the addition of reigning USA Champion First Season Sire Congrats to their Scone roster, the son of A.P Indy was responsible for another first crop stakeswinner.
It happened when the Barbara Minshall trained filly Portside won the Listed Star Shoot Handicap at Canada’s premier racecourse Woodbine.
The three-year-old filly held a length and a quarter gap on nearest rival Nina fever at the end of the six furlong (1200m) sprint.
”Congrats sires 22 individual 2YO winners in his first season including two Group 1 winners,” Vinery’s Adam White said.
Congrats has now had 4 Stakes winners from that first crop amongst a remarkable 15 Stakes horses.
”His oldest progeny have turned three and are still winning stakes races which is obviously a very encouraging sign.
”He was a horse who won from 1300 to 1700m himself, and although he was a debut winner at 2, he really trained on to become a good, tough, sound galloper and was still winning Stakes races as a 5yo”.
