GOLD Coast gelding Double Image made a stunning return to racing when recording her fifth career win from just nine starts when he dashed away from his rivals to score at Doomben yesterday.
The son of Vinery sire Dubleo hadn’t been seen since finishing last of 11 at Eagle Farm back in November, immediately after he posted back to back wins in the sunshine state.
Clearly the break agreed with the Les Kelly trained five-year-old who made light work of his rivals to post an emphatic 2.5-lens win in the BRC Woolworths Handicap (1010m).
Double Image is one of three winners out of the Forest Glow mare, Campfire Slave, who is direct descendant of the Group 1 Brisbane Cup winning mare, Queen’s Road (by Sir Tristram).
Dubleo is by More Than Ready’s sire, Southern Halo, and won 7 races in the USA – 6 of those at 2 – including the G2 Woodbine Summer Stakes.
Dubleo is the sire of 73 winners from his 112 starters including Vinery’s own first crop daughter and multiple stakeswinner Dubleanny.
