SUPER sire More Than Ready is now just one new stakeswinner away from joining the `100 Club’ after former Queenslander Ready To Rip took out the Listed VRC Winter Sprint Final (1200m) at Flemington on Saturday.
USA filly Uptown Bertie becamse SW’er number 98 seven days prior when she cruised home to an easy 2 3/4-lens wins in the Grade 3 Iowa Stakes (1700m).
Ready To Rip’s triumph coincided the trainer Peter Moody’s 200th winner for the 2011/12 season. Having his first run for Moody in Saturday’s Listed All Victorian Sprint Final at Flemington, the former Queenslander Ready To Rip came in for heavy support in the betting ring and he didn’t disappoint.
A six-year-old gelding, Ready To Rip, is bred on the substantial More Than Ready/Danehill mare ‘nick’ which has also produced Group 1 winners Benicio, Perfectly Ready, Dreamaway as well as the Golden Slipper/Oakleigh Plate placegetter, Elite Falls.
Ready to Rip is a direct descendant of the immortal broodmare Denise’s Joy and thus a relatively close genetic relative of More Than Ready’s 8-times Group 1 winning champion, More Joyous.
Among the elite band of stallions who have sired 100 or more Group 1 winners are; Sunday Silence, Danehll, Sadler’s Wells, Zabeel, Northern Dancer, Storm Bird, Mr Prospector, Danzig and Vinery’s own foundation sire, Red Ransom.
