DUBLEO gelding Oriental Taste was the focus of a remarkable miletstone for auction house Magic Millions when he pushed the total number of wins on international racetracks by sale graduates during this season to 1000.

The Australian bred gelding offered up his sixth career win when he took out the rich Korea Racing Authority Goodwill Trophy (1100m) in Macau on the weekend.

Oriental Taste was sold to trainer Gary Moore from Vinery Stud’s 2009 National Yearling draft on the Gold Coast for $52,500.

“I have a good opinion of the horse,” Moore said this week while on the Gold Coast attending the 2012 National sale.

“He’s a classy galloper who was one of the best three-year-olds in Macau and he’s continued on that great form.”

Closer to home, talented Dubleo gelding Skateboard has recently returned to work at Guy Walter’s Warwick Farm stables.

Skateboard was knocked down to Walter’s brother, Proven Thoroughbreds boss Jamie, at the 2008 Magic Millions Sale on the Gold Coast for $42,500.

A big, strong beast, Skateboard won his first start in a race at Goulburn by 7-lens before adding two more wins from his next three starts.

“We found the key to him last campaign was stretching him out to 1400m and 1500m,” Jamie Walter said,”so we’ll be going down a similar path with him next prep.

“We sort of had him pegged as a 1000m horse but once we realised that he was more than that it opened up a few opportunities and he’s form improved too.

“We’re not being too ambitious with him (this campaign), if he can win Saturday races then we’ll be delighted.”
