THE likelihood of a wet track in Brisbane this weekend will play into the hands of multiple stakeswinner Neeson when he tackles the Group 2 QTC Cup (1300m).
Eagle Farm is currently rated Dead for Oaks day tomorrow but forecast rain could easily see it slide into slow or potentially worse.
Neeson has won both times he was presented with a slow surface including his breakthrough Listed win the Darby Munro as a three-year-old.
The Joe Pride trained sprinter is yet to miss a place in heavy ground.
He beat a quality field to win last year’s time-honoured ATC Tramway Handicap (1400m) on a heavy (9).
“Neeson looks like he is going to the track that he likes but he has drawn 17 out of the 18 which makes the job that little bit harder for him,” says Vinery’s Conor Phelan.
“If he can overcome that draw and carry the 59kg and win, it will be a career best performance.”
