VINERY Stud resident Congrats has been responsible for a flood of winners in the USA this May with 10 winners in the last 9 days including three winner from three runner’s last Friday.
The son of A.P Indy had runners at Calder, Arlington and Prairie Meadows – all of whom won their respective races to take Congrats overall tally of winners closer to 100 in remarkably quick time.
Congrats also boasts a winners to runners over 65% percent.
He has a total of 20 black-type performers amongst his first two crops, 7 of those are stakeswinners led by Grade 1 winners (from his first crop) Turbulent Descent and Wickedly Perfect.
Congrats sired 22 2YO winners in his first crop resulting in him being crowned USA Champion First Season Sire in 2010.
“Congrats numbers from his first crop which are currently only four-year-olds are incredible. From 114 live foals an amazing 91 have raced of which 74 have won,” says Vinery’s Adam White.
“He also gets a high proportion of stakes horses and not `’just` Listed horses either with Turbulent Descent a Group 1 winner at 2 and 3 years of age.”
White reported that Congrats served a full book of quality mares upon arriving at Vinery (Scone) at the top of last season and is line for another busy spring in 2012.
“We have always said that given Congrats had already proven himself to the extent that he was actually the Champion First Season Sire in the USA – and from limited opportunity, it takes out the guesswork that is inherent in first season sires,” White said.
“Trainers and buyers in Australia won’t have to be constantly introduced to Congrats, they know his resume and what to expect so it’s a great position for breeders to be in.
“They can go to a young, proven stallion with confidence and at an affordable price.
“His service fee hasn’t changed since the day he arrived despite him making so many inroads.”
Congrats returns to Vinery in 2012 at $22,000 (inc GST & Transferable Free Return).
