EMERGING Benicio gelding Cuban Sunday will take on Blacktype company after a shared win in last Saturday’s $90k MRC Rokk Ebony Cup (2000m) at Caulfield.
The Mick Price trained 3YO has won his last three appearances and may well have earned himself a trip to Brisbane to contest the Queensland Derby this winter.
”He is a much improved horse this campaign in line with his pedigree and physique,” Vinery’s Conor Phelan said.
”Cuban Sunday won his first start as a 2yo over 1213m which is always a very positive sign in a horse that is bred to get over more ground.
”Mick has placed him so well and the horse just keeps delivering.”
The next start for Cuban Sunday is expected to be the Listed 3YO Galilee Series Final over 2400m worth $100K on Saturday April 9th at Caulfield.
Cuban Sunday is a member of Benicio’s second crop, his third has already unearthed the outstanding stakes placed 2YO Benny’s Halo who is expected to make amends for his most unlucky second in the Group 2 Karrakatta Plate when he lines-up in the Group 3 WATC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) this Saturday.
