A TREBLE of new winners in the USA over the weekend has only served to emphasize A.P Indy son Congrats‘ prolific nature.
“When a stallion can produce a foal crop with 81% W/R in a single crop that includes Group 1 winner’s, you know you have something special.” Adam White on Congrats.
The Vinery Stud resident and reigning US Champion First Season Sire (2011) delivered multiple winners beginning at Churchill Downs and two at Tampa Bay Downs in sunny Florida.
Congrats has so far sired 91 individual winners from his two crops of racing age with a substantial 65 percent winners-to-runner strike rate already.
He has also produced some 20 stakes performers in that time led by the Grade One winners; Turbulent Descent and Wickedly Perfect.
“It was a fantastic achievement for Congrats to be the leading first season sire in the US given the level of competition and the opportunity he had in his first season,” says Vinery’s Adam White.
“But it was very important that he back it up in his second year and he’s done that now.
White reported that Congrats covered a full book of mares in Australia last season and is in line fo another busy spring in 2012.
“We can’t wait for his first Australian foals to arrive, I guess we know what to expect given that he’s already a proven sire, but it’s still an exciting time for Vinery and our clients,” he said.
