FORMER Sydney sider Meshmaker is perfectly positioned to take out the Group 3 SAJC Chairman’s Stakes (200m) at Morphettville tomorrow and become Testa Rossa’s 43rd stakeswinner in the process.

The son of Testa was originally trained at Rosehill by Chris Waller but was transferred to Mark Kavanagh’s Adelaide stables in the middle half of last year.

Mark’s son Sam does the honours these days and looks to have the smart 3YO is peak order ahead of Saturday’s feature.

“Meshmaker came from a long way back – in fact he was last of the 14 at the turn in the Port Adelaide Guineas to finish second,” Vinery’s Conor Phelan.

“The step up from 1800m to 2000m tomorrow is very much in Meshmaker’s favour although he’s not all that well treated with barrier 16.

“He’ll get back again and will be steaming home.”

There is no word as yet on whether Meshmaker will remain in work for the SAJC Derby on May 5 and attempt to emulate Testa Rossa’s Group One SA Classic winner, Testafiable.
