Glamour mare More Joyous, and Mossman’s emerging star Triple Elegance head an impressive list of Australian entries for the Hong Kong Champions Mile at Sha Tin on April 25.
More Than Ready’s latest star, More Joyous heads the list of eight Australian horses nominated for the Champions Mile.
The list includes fellow Group One winners Danleigh (born, raised and sold by Vinery), Melito and Whobegotyou.
The other Australian entries includes Chris Waller’s brilliant Mossman galloper Triple Elegance, as well as Dao Dao, Masquerader, and Phenomenons.
Mossman’s has had a string of new Stakes winners in recent weeks with Agister, and Ofcourseican but Triple Elegacne is a stand out. A typical Mossman, Triple Elegance has such a tremendous record – 17 starts, 7 wins and 7 placings, with the only time he missed a place was at his first and second runs.
Triple Elegance has been a tremendous horse for connections, as well as proving a great deal of excitement, he has earned over $440,000 already with the promise of plenty more to come.
Entries for Hong Kong’s two international spring showpieces, the G1 BMW Champions Mile and the G 1 Audemars Piguet QE II Cup, show a marked increase in numbers and quality on 2010.
There are 8 Group One winners nominated for the Champions Mile and 40 horses who have either been placed at G1 level or won a G2 or G3 event.
“The number and strength in depth of the entries is a great tribute to the drawing power of these two international events,” said HKJC Executive Director of Racing, William A Nader.
“What’s particularly gratifying is the geographical spread of the countries in which the entries are trained. The lists include genuine champions from Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore, South Africa, the UAE, the UK and the USA.
“In all, a remarkable 42 individual winners of Group 1s worldwide and as well as 77 horses who have either Group 1 placings or victories at Group 2 or Group 3 level, or both, have been entered for what has all the makings of an exceptional spring festival in Hong Kong.”
