PROMISING Excites two-year-old Red Excitement has drawn barrier 10 out of 16 in his quest to win Sunday’s Listed $250,000 Black Opal Stakes (1200m) in the nation’s capital.
With a full field of 14 to go round, the Neville Layt trained gelding will almost certainly jump from one stall closer in with the emergencies unlikely to gain a start.
Red Excitement, a $42,500 Inglis Classic purchase has already banked over $75,000 for connections boosted by a $50,000 Inglis bonus attached to his impressive win at Canberra on February 26
“Red Excitement ran very well in the Breeders’ Plate and the Inglis Banner before going for a spell,” Vinery’s Conor Phelan noted.
“He goes into the Black Opal third-up off a win at the track and he has a very astute trainer in Neville Layt to guide him.
“I think he’ll run well.”
