GEOFF and Beryl White’s classy galloper Agister set a race record of 1:08.66secs when scoring a clear victory in the prestigious ATC Listed Eskimo Prince Stakes (1200m) at Warwick Farm today.
The son of Mossman was sent out at $41 despite being beaten only 2-lens first-up by rivals Halekulani and La Remlap two weeks earlier in an unusually strong benchmark 75 Handicap.
Agister was perfectly poised on top of the speed by Josh Adams who guided his mount to a 0.4-lens win ahead of Celts and the easing favourite Halekulani close-up in third.
As well as taking his earnings nearer to $200,000, Agister becomes the 14th individual stakeswinner for his sire Mossman and the 5th to emerge from the 2007 crop (3YO) crop joining Buffering, Parriwi, Stirling Grove the Kiwi galloper Hoofit.
Interestingly, four of Mossman’s eight stakesperformed 3YO’s are out of Danehill mares including Agister himself whose dam, Satryic, is from the White’s champion mare Triscay.
