WHILE Excites gelding Light And Excite was able to break his maiden in WA on Friday, it is the gelding’s pedigree that caught the attention of breeding buffs around Australia.
The Gerry Harvey bred galloper carries a 3 X 2 double cross of Danehill via Excites’ sire, Danewin and through his dam, Rubix.
Both of Light And Excites’ next two dams are stakes performers in North America and by outstanding broodmare sires, Topsider and Key To The Mint.
“Excites has sired 12 individual winners, two of them out of More Than Ready mares, and one each out of mares by Zeditave, Rory’s Jester, Gulch Blevic, Thunder Gulch, Octagonal, Rigoletto and Red Ransom but this is the first one from a Danehill mare,” Vinery’s Conor Phelan noted.
Good Week for Excites.
Light And Excite’s win came in the same week as Scream Machine took out the ATC Australian Turf Club Handicap (1550m) at Canterbury for trainer Jason Coyle.
There are four Excites yearlings catalogued for the 2012 Magic Millions Yearling Sale which begins on Wednesday at the Gold Coast.
Excites has 12 yearlings on offer at the 2012 Inglis Classic Sale on 22,23 & 24 January at Newmarket in Sydney.
