BETFAIR punters have reacted to Elite Falls fast finishing second behind Satin Shoes in today’s ATC Silver Slipper Stakes (1100m) by slicing her Golden Slipper pre-post quote in half from $40 into $20.
The John O’Shea-trained filly was spotting joint leaders Satin Shoes and Straight Gold a considerable start in the $125,000 throwing down a challenge to the eventual winner inside the last 100m to get within a half-length at the finish.
“Elite Falls has run second to Satin Shoes at their last two runs – the Widden and now the Silver Slipper – both at 1100m,” Vinery’s Conor Phelan said.
“Each time, Elite Falls has been motoring home and taking ground off Satin Shoes with every stride. I think once they get to 1200m, in a fast run race like the Golden Slipper always is, we could well see a different result. Take nothing away from the winner though – they are both very good fillies.”
