TWO of Mossman’s highest profile progeny, Love Conquers All and Dinner Date, will tackle black-type races in seperate States tomorrow as they begin their respective autumn campaigns.
Team Hawkes galloper, Love Conquers All, lines-up in the STC Group 2 Expressway Stkes (1200m) at Rosehill where the temperature is tipped to reach 40 degrees.
Meanwhile in Melbourne where rain is predicted, the David Hayes-trained filly, Dinner Date, is seeking to add the Listed MRC Chairman’s Stakes (1100m) to her Merson Cooper win from last spring.
Love Conquers All will need to overcome an esepcially strong field if he is to score his seventh career win up against the likes of Hot Danish and triple Group One winner, Danleigh.
“In three starts during the winter when the horse really came of age he beat Hay List, Danleigh and Pinwheel in successive starts, so he is comfortable in this sort of company,” says Vinery Stud’s Adam White.
“He trialled well at Warwick Farm in the lead-up to this race – I guess the sticking point is whether the track is too firm, he has won twice on good ground, but no horse likes it too hard underfoot, he’s the same.”
As for Dinner Date, the Gerry Harvey onwed and bred filly has drawn ideally in barrier one in her quest to join past Chairman’s Stakes winners like Wrap Around, Pampas Fire and Redoute’s Choice.
“It has been a good horses’ race since it was first run in 1990,” White noted. “Last years winner, Crytsal Lily, went on to win the Golden Slipper and Headway, in 2009, won this race then finished second in the Slipper.”
