Sydney visitor Centre Pivot became the 150th stakes winner sired by More Than Ready with a dominant victory in the LR Bernborough Hcp (1615m) at Doomben on Saturday.
The Vinery champion is the fourth youngest stallion to pass that milestone and he did it in style when Centre Pivot raced away from his rivals for part-owners Kevin Maloney and Gerry Harvey.
Centre Pivot (4g More Than Ready – Waterwise by Zabeel) has now won 8 times for $503,570 in prizemoney. He’s a younger half-brother to Harvey’s mare Slow The Flow (Hussonet) who was Group 3 placed twice at Caulfield.
Their NZ-bred dam Waterwise has a 2yo colt named Dam Ready (More Than Ready) with Lindsay Park trainers David Hayes and Tom Dabernig.
More Than Ready (Southern Halo) made an immediate impact shuttling to Vinery. He was Australian Champion first-season sire with 16 individual winners in 2004-05. Among them were 6 stakes winners which equalled the record set by Without Fear in the 1970s.
There are 17 Group 1 winners among his 150 stakes winners and he has built up a world-wide strike-rate of 73% winners-to-runners. He has twice been Australian Champion 2YO sire and he also claimed the USA 2YO title in 2010.
More Than Ready is the only stallion to be crowned Champion 2YO sire in Australia and North America. His career statistics also include G1 Golden Slipper winners Sebring & Phelan Ready, G1 fillies More Joyous & Samaready and G1 classic winners Benicio, Dreamaway & More Than Sacred.
He’s a proven sire of sires. Sebring sired last year’s Australian Horse Of The Year Criterion and Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner Pluck is just beginning his stud career alongside his sire at Vinery.
Standing 16 hands, More Than Ready stamps his stock and is already making inroads as a broodmare sire highlighted by his affinity with Danehill-line stallions.
