A first-crop colt by Vinery sire Pluck (USA) has been purchased by Group 1 trainer Dan Bougoure for $110,000 at the Magic Millions 2YO Sale.
An early September foal offered by Washpool Lodge, he stretched out with ease in a 10.53s breeze at the Gold Coast last month. And the colt looked the part at the Gold Coast Sale on Tuesday.
“His trial was very impressive and he’s an outstanding type,” Bougoure said. “He will go home and have a few weeks off just being led off the pony and going down to the beach. It’s obvious the horse has ability and he will tell us whether he’s ready for the Magic Millions.”
Qualified for BOBS and QTIS, he will be syndicated among Bougoure’s clients.
The Pluck colt was a profitable mark-up for Washpool Lodge. “We bought him for $32,000 as a likely prospect for the 2YO Sale and he prepped as good as gold,” Washpool’s Letitia Langbecker said. “Dan really liked him – he’s a good eater with a lovely attitude.”
His dam Zaheerina (Desert King) won 5 sprints in Melbourne and Adelaide and there’s more speed further back in the pedigree. Second dam Mrs. Kahn (Vain) is a three-quarter sister to sizzling racehorse and sire County.
Pluck is a Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner by More Than Ready and stands for a $9,900 (inc gst) fee at Vinery.
