PUNTERS knew what they doing when they made Jason Coyle’s Excites gelding Excited Prince the $1.55 favourite to take out his maiden at Goulburn earlier in the week.
Excited Prince managed to pass under the radar on debut starting $41 yet managed to go within a breath of winning a deep maiden at Kembla Grange on September 15.
His Goulburn win marks him as a horse who should have no trouble progressing through the grades says Vinery’s Conor Phelan.
“He was actually a bit unlucky not to have won at Kembla, he was a bit slow out and was only beaten a neck by a horse of Chris Waller’s that was backed.
“Just the way he races and looking at his pedigree you would think a mile is well within his reach so Jason Coyle isn’t going to have to look too hard to find suitable races along the way for him.”
Excited Prince is the first foal of Alannan mare, Belle Of All, who is a close relation to Winning Belle who won the Queensland Guineas before placing second to the great Makybe Diva in the 2005 Australian Cup.
