FORMER Champion USA Freshman Sire Congrats has a golden opportunity to sire yet another Grade 1 winner when two-year-old filly Toasting lines-up in the prestigious Frizette Stakes (1m) at Belmont in New York.
Toasting will take on a field of 6 in the $400,000 fillies feature.
Should she be able to convert, she will join first crop Congrats offspring Turbulent Descent and Wickedly Perfect as well as second crop member Emma’s Encore as a Grade 1 winners by the son of A.P Indy.
Emma’s Encore herself will be in action over the weekend when she contests the Group 2 Thoroughbred Club Of America (6f or 1200m) in Kentucky.
The Allan Jerkens trained mare is racing for a berth in the Breeders’ Cup Fillies And Mares Sprint at Santa Anita on November 3.
This race is part of the `Win and You’re In’ concept which translates into automatic qualification for next months’ feature.
It has been a big couple of weeks for Congrats in the USA most notably thanks to his milestone 100th USA winner from just 140 runners.
“Congrats boasts a Testa Rossa-like strike rate,” says Conor Phelan,” it is up over the 74 percent mark which is incredible. The best thing about him is that his first crop which was so good have trained on and the new crops since are in keeping with his high turnover of winners and takes horses.
“It all looks very good for him in the future given that the mares he is covering in the USA is getting better all the time and he’s covered two full books in his first two years here at Scone,” Phelan added.
