Group 1 sprinter Home Affairs (I Am Invincible) dominated Day 2 of the Magic Millions Foal Sale with the Vinery Stud-consigned chestnut filly from Irish-bred mare Orchidia one of 16 first-crop weanlings that helped him top turnover at $3,035,000.

The Home Affairs – Orchidia (Bated Breath) filly was offered by Vinery as agent for Glentree Pastoral owner Bruce Wilson.  She was catalogued as Lot 217 and made $360,000 when knocked down to Lime Country Thoroughbreds.

“A weanling can get smashed if they’re kept parading,” Lime Country’s Jo Griffin said on Monday.  “It’s a lot to ask but this one just kept putting in and kept her action all the way through.  We will bring her back for the yearling sales and she will be a lovely addition.”

Orchidia was a Wolverhampton 3yo winner for trainer Roger Charlton and her first foal for Glentree Pastoral is unraced 2yo filly Habenaria (I Am Invincible) with trainers Anthony & Sam Freedman.

There are a half-dozen black-type winners under second dam New Orchid (Quest for Fame) including Group 1 winners African Rose (Champion French 3YO Sprinter), Native Trail (Champion European 2YO Colt) and the dam of former Australian shuttler Calyx (Kingman).

Vinery sire All Too Hard’s sole Weanling Sale entrant was a colt from Nai’a (Lot 207) that changed hands for $110,000.  He was sold by A List Stud to NZ pinhookers Henley Park (Marc & Sarah Devcich) and Riversley Park (Sam & Hana Beatson).

Nai’a (Lonhro) has also been catalogued for the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale as Lot 877 on Thursday.  She was a Randwick winner for James Cummings and her current 2yo Meltdown is an unraced son of Too Darn Hot (GB) with Proven Thoroughbreds.

Vinery sire Exceedance has already been represented by first-crop Stakes winners Dublin Down and Flyer and his third-crop colt from Warrior Of Peace (Sebring) sold for $90,000 on Monday.

Offered by Glastonbury Farms (as agent) and catalogued as Lot 353, he was purchased by Ampulla Lodge acting for a Chinese client.  Warrior Of Peace is from the extended family of Group 1 Golden Slipper Stakes (1200m) winner Farnan who was sold by Vinery (as agent) for $550,000 at the 2019 Gold Coast Magic Millions Yearling Sale.

Vinery has 15 lots catalogued for the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale that runs over three sessions this week from Tuesday to Thursday on the Gold Coast.
