Star Turn sprinter Everyone’s A Star’s has thrived since her Rosehill Midway victory last Saturday and she will stay in training for this month’s two-day carnival at Scone.
Marc Chevalier’s in-form mare had doubled up at Randwick in March and the only loss in her last four starts was a midfield finish when rising several classes for the ATC Sapphire Stakes (Gr.2, 1200m) on April 13.
Everyone’s A Star (4m Star Turn – Pietra by Rock Of Gibraltar) was caught wide and way back in the field off some quick sectionals at Rosehill before storming home to defeat Broadway Bouncer (Kermadec) and Sumo Star (Maurice). “That was her 10th start this prep and she is the stable superstar with our team at Hawkesbury,” Chevalier said. “She goes on the walker two to three days a week and I gallop her on the Polytrack leading up to raceday.”
Everyone’s A Star will target a Benchmark 78 Hcp (1100m) at Scone’s stand-alone Saturday meeting on May 18. She is raced by Dr Ulysses Crosson with a syndicate that includes Jeff Englebrecht who had trainer her before retiring in 2022. Her dam Pietra is four-from-four at stud and the Star Turn – Rock Of Gibraltar cross has a 75% strike-rate including promising 3yo Grange Rock Star who was sidelined following a Canterbury win for trainer Robert Quinn last season.
Star Turn’s Hong Kong stats are in the same league with new winners like Beauty Destiny. The Frankie Lor-trained import broke through at Happy Valley on Wednesday evening taking the Vinery sire’s strike-rate to 70%.
Beauty Destiny (4g Star Turn – Cocoexcel by Exceed And Excel) was registered as Spitzer in Australia and was exported after winning a Rosehill barrier trial for Team Hawkes. He won the French May Trophy (1200m) by a half-length from Lyrical Motion (Not A Single Doubt) on Wednesday despite a wayward finish under Zac Purton.
“He spotted the infield screen so I gave him one with the whip and he shifted out quite quickly,” the champion jockey reported. “I thought at one stage he was going to run completely off the track, but I managed to straighten him up and hang on.”
It was a timely win for his dam Cocoexcel who has been catalogued as Lot 365 for the Inglis Australian Broodmare Sale at Riverside Stables on Friday, May 10. Offered by Vinery (as agent), she is owned by Vinery partner Steve McCann (Encompass International) and is in foal to Captivant.
