Star Turn continues to trend in jurisdictions far and wide after the Magic Millions Yearling Sale.
A rising force on Vinery Stud’s in-form roster, he sired 8 individual winners in the week between the final session on the Gold Coast and Australia Day.
Star Turn’s latest crop of yearlings were popular at the Magic Millions with a 100% clearance rate at a $240,000 average. That’s nearly 15 times what broodmare owners were paying for his services in 2020.
True Nobility was the catalyst for the latest winning burst in Australia and a day later Sugar Sugar and Star Contact doubled up in Hong Kong. The David Vandyke-trained mare My Snow Queen made it 8 in the XXXX Dry Hcp (1200m) at Doomben on Wednesday.
True Nobility and jockey Dean Yendall overcame a chequered run to win the Kings Bakery Hcp (1100m) last Tuesday. He was racing second-up after throat surgery and had put the writing on the wall at Stawell earlier this month. “That was very impressive. He was enormous first-up and hit the line nicely today,” trainer Peter Chow said. “He was buried back on the inside and I was a bit worried at the top of the straight but Dean did well to get him through.”
True Nobility (4g Star Turn – Hemingway Rules by Hemingway) was bred by Musk Creek Farm’s David Kobritz and is from a half-sister to Man Of Illusion (Encosta de Lago) who clocked a class-record at Doomben before transferring to America where he won a Group 3 Sprint at Churchill Downs.
My Snow Queen collared tearaway leader Magnitude right on the line at Doomben yesterday. “That makes it two wins from three starts for this girl since joining our stable!” Van Dyke said. “She looked well-placed and we were sure she would run a cheeky race.
“She was brave winning first-up for us at Christmas and it was a perfectly-timed ride by Ryan (Maloney) today.”
My Snow Queen (4m Star Turn – Lionel Left Me by Casino Prince) is a half-sister to Shadow Vampire who completed a hat-trick for Mark Newham at Warwick Farm in November. They’re from a half-sister to Amovatio (Hawkesbury Gold Cup Gr.3).
Star Turn has 21 yearlings entered for the Inglis Classic Sale next month and the first to parade for Vinery (as agent) is the bay filly from Sencircles (Lot 49). She is a three-quarter sister to Group 3 Gosford Belle Of The Turf winner Threeood (Star Witness).
