All Too Hard’s Kiwi sprinter Insatiable has booked a berth in the Stewards Stakes (Gr.3, 1200m) next month on the back of an unbeaten start to his latest campaign for Te Akau Racing.

Insatiable won first-up as a 4yo in the Christchurch Casino Hcp (1000m) at Riccarton in September and improved again to land the Clearview Park Hcp (1200m) at Phar Lap Raceway on Friday.  He was giving front-runner O’Jessica (Deep Field) six lengths approaching the furlong pole but reeled her in right on the line.

“He’s a gross sort of horse and took time maturing,” co-trainer Mark Walker said.  “He has plenty of ability and the trip away to campaign in the South Island will wake him up mentally and do him the world of good.”

Insatiable was a $190,000 buy for Te Akau owner David Ellis at the 2021 NZB Karaka Book 1 Yearling Sale.  “He was a really nice physical specimen when we bought him,” Ellis recalled.  “One of the part-owners is All Black Anton Lienert-Brown so there will be lots of people celebrating the win.  Physically, he’s big and overgrown although there’s certainly more to come as he continues to strengthen and develop.”

His dam All Day Baby (More Than Ready) was purchased by Ben Kwok for $28,000 at the 2019 Inglis Australian Broodmare Sale.  She’s a daughter of VRC Matron Stakes (Gr.3, 1600m) winner Translate (Love A Dane) and was sold carrying Insatiable.

The Stewards Stakes (Gr.3, 1200m) is one of the feature races at the NZ Cup Day meeting at Riccarton on Saturday, November 18.  Insatiable’s Te Akau stablemate Viva Vienna (All Too Hard) will be one of the favoured runners in the NZ 1000 Guineas (Gr.1, 1600m) at the same meeting.

The All Too Hard – More Than Ready cross maintains a 72% strike-rate with 48 individual winners headed by Group 1 stars Wellington and Forbidden Love.  The Vinery sire has also built a 69% strike-rate in New Zealand led by Group winners Demonetization and Babylon Berlin.

All Too Hard has 11 lots catalogued for the Inglis Ready2Race Sale at Riverside Stakes on Tuesday and another 11 at the Magic Millions 2YO Sale at the Gold Coast on October 24.  NZ Bloodstock released the catalogue for its Ready to Run Sale on Thursday.  There are five sons of All Too Hard parading at Karaka on November 22 & 23.

Vinery stands All Too Hard for a $38,500 (inc GST) service fee payable on a live foal.  For bookings or further information, contact Adam White (0414 800 918) or Harry Roach (0401 970 006).
