Among the many success stories from the Vinery breeding barn, two stallions have established themselves as consistently strong performers in the sale ring, delivering impressive results and significant returns on investment for breeders year after year.

As we head towards the three major Ready To Run Sales over the coming weeks, the results of All Too Hard and Star Turn are a timely reminder that when it comes to breeding commercially, not all roads lead to the yearling sales.

All Too Hard has few feathers left to add to his cap, and his record at Ready To Run Sales has been consistently impressive, delivering strong results and attracting buyers year after year.

Since 2023, his progeny have produced 23 individual Ready To Run graduates selling for six figures or more, including 12 selling for $200,000 or higher.

The results have been highlighted by an $800,000 gelding out of Tuscany Lady, purchased by Hong Kong buyer Mr KM Yeung, who went on to become the Group 3 Sha Tin Vase winner, Patch Of Stars.

Another ready to run success story by All Too Hard is dual Stakes winner, Hard Kick. Sold at the Inglis Ready2Race sale for $140.000 to the bid of Lindsay Park, he won the Listed Talindert Stakes as a 2YO and then went on to win the Group 3 Vain Stakes providing a swift return on their purchase

His stock have also attracted some of the most astute judges in the business, with graduates purchased by the likes of John Foote, Bjorn Baker/Clarke Bloodstock, OTI, James Harron, Ricky Yiu, Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott and Boomer Bloodstock.

However the strength of All Too Hard’s commercial appeal extends well beyond the Ready To Run ring.

Over the past 12 months, his progeny have sold for up to $85,000 as weanlings and $420,000 as yearlings, delivering exceptional returns for a stallion who has stood for under $40,000 for the past eight seasons.

During that period, he has sired five individual multiple Group 1 winners and enjoyed one of the strongest juvenile seasons of his career, with nine individual 2YO winners including Group 3 Black Opal Stakes winner Music Time, who subsequently finished third in the Group 1 Golden Slipper.

All Too Hard is represented by 20 lots across the three upcoming Ready To Run Sales, giving buyers another opportunity to access a proven commercial sire whose progeny continue to perform at every stage of the market.

Barn mate Star Turn has also built an impressive record at Ready To Run Sales across Australia and New Zealand, with multiple graduates exceeding $200,000 over the past five seasons including $825,000 (ex Commonwealth), $600,000 (ex Hyannis Port), $400,000 (ex Soiree), $300,000 (ex Sharnee Rose) and $250,000 (ex In The Moment).

A highlight being the high-priced colt out of Commonwealth offering a quick return for buyers when winning the Listed Oxlade Stakes as a two-year-old.

Star Turn’s commercial appeal has continued into the yearling ring, averaging almost $130,000 across the major yearling sales in 2026, including a $300,000 filly out of Testa Sarah purchased by James Bester/O’Shea & Charlton Racing, while a colt out of Blessed was purchased for $300,000 by Hong Kong trainer Ricky Yiu.

Those results represent an outstanding return for a stallion who has always stood for under $30,000.

On the racetrack, Star Turn’s winner-to-runner rate has continued to sit at almost 70%, while he has produced 23 Stakes Performers over the past five seasons, reinforcing his ability to deliver both commercial appeal and racetrack upside.

Star Turn is represented by 10 lots across the three upcoming Ready To Run Sales.

With the 2026 Magic Millions Gold Coast Horses in Training Sale set to commence on Monday, representation from both sires is set to be once again well received across all three of the upcoming sales.

Their results offer a well-timed reminder for breeders and buyers alike: commercial opportunity extends well beyond the yearling sales.

With proven results across the weanling, yearling and 2YO Ready to Run markets, All Too Hard and Star Turn offer breeders genuine commercial versatility. Their progeny appeal to a broad spectrum of buyers across multiple sales platforms, creating greater demand, more selling opportunities and multiple pathways to commercial success.

For breeders, that versatility translates into greater flexibility and the potential for significant returns on investment.
