There’s no shortage of options for Press Statement filly Incredulous Dream following her rails-hugging victory in the Nitschke Stakes (L, 1400m) at Morphettville.

Jockey Barend Vorster rode a peach of a race to help Incredulous Dream land her first black-type victory on Saturday.  Buried behind a wall of horses at the top of the straight, he elected to angle back to fence and the filly rocketed home to overhaul the favourite Annavisto (NZ).

Trainers Ciaron Maher and David Eustace can keep her targeting features in Adelaide, find something closer to home in Melbourne or travel north to the winter carnival.  “She’s pulled up in good order,” Eustace reported at Flemington on Sunday.  “We will look at all the alternatives but at this stage we might lean towards Queensland.

“We’ve always had a big opinion of her.  She’s got a future and we knew she would develop into a lovely type this prep.”

Incredulous Dream (3f Press Statement – Incredulous by Keep The Faith) won a Bendigo nursery on debut in February 2020 and climaxed a spring campaign defeating Yes Baby Yes on the Caulfield Cup undercard in October.

She won first-up again at Mornington in March and will continue to improve over longer distances in races like Doomben Roses (Gr.3, 2000m) on May 22 and Queensland Oaks (Gr.1, 2200m) on June 5.

The grey filly was bred and sold by Aquis Farm and was the top-priced yearling by her sire when making $340,000 at the 2019 Gold Coast Magic Millions.  Syndicator Brad Spicer secured her for a partnership that includes Greg Mitchell and Craig Pearce of Princeton Stud.  “She was such a queen at the Magic Millions,” Spicer recalled.  “We had to stretch to get her, so glad to get black-type.”

Her dam Incredulous foaled Melbourne Group 2 winner Global Exchange (Dundeel) first-up and she was purchased by Aquis Farm carrying the Nitschke Stakes winner for $200,000 at the 2017 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale.

The Queensland Oaks on June 5 is the first of two Group 1 goals for Press Statement in Brisbane.  The Vinery sire has Baby Wong being set for the J J Atkins Stakes on June 12 after his promising victory in the Romantic Dream 2YO Plate at Tamworth on Friday.

Press Statement will stand for an unchanged $13,750 (inc GST) fee at Vinery this year.  For bookings or further information, please contact Adam White (0414 800 918) or Harry Roach (0401 970 006).
