On a historic Melbourne Cup Day, Born Baker’s Dance To The Boom brought her consistent Sydney form to the big stage at Flemington, taking out the Group 3 The Hong Kong Jockey Club Stakes in explosive style to make it three wins on the trot.

A winner of six from just nine starts, the mare by exciting young sire Exceedance returned this spring in fine form running behind recent Group 3 winner Idle Flyer before notching back-to-back Sydney victories and producing a brilliant Melbourne debut to continue her winning streak.

Ridden coolly by Kerrin McEvoy from a wide gate, Dance To The Boom settled midfield and wide for much of the trip before straightening and unleashing a powerful turn of foot to storm past her rivals and hold off challengers
Roll On High and Jenni The Fox.

“She’s just very genuine and honest.” McEvoy said post-race. “Once I had her relaxed after a furlong and a half, I knew she’d have a finish and that’s exactly what she showed.”

A winner of the Listed Gosford Guineas last December, today’s triumph marks her second stakes success and pushes her career earnings beyond $400,000 with plenty more to come as she continues to mature.

The first foal out of the unraced I Am Invincible mare Bim Bam Boom, Dance To The Boom was purchased by Jo Lindsay of Cambridge Stud for $250,000 from the draft of Rosemont Stud at the 2023 Magic Millions Yearling Sale.

Bim Bam Boom foaled a colt this spring which is a full brother to Dance To The Boom and part of the sires largest and most exciting crop to date.

The progressive mare is one of four stakes winners for Exceedance, who is enjoying an exceptional season, boasting a 73% pregnancy rate per cycle, standing for a very attractive fee of $33,000 (inc GST).
