Trainer Annabel Neasham will bring Regal Pom to town next week on the back of front-running victories at Wyong and Kembla Grange.

The Press Statement 4yo gelding won his maiden by 8 lengths in July and then battled blustery conditions to double up as an odds-on favourite last Thursday.

“We’ve been very happy with the way he’s come through the win at Kembla,” Neasham Racing Manager Rob Archibald reported on Monday.  “He will be nominated for a BM72 Hcp (1550m) at Canterbury on August 17.”

Regal Pom took a couple of preps to hit his straps and that improvement mirrored his rise in value while changing hands at three auctions.  Press Statement sired him from Texas Spur (Flying Spur) who transferred to Western Australia with a PPT to the Vinery sire after Shane Loughnan sold her for $10,000 to Quanah Park at the 2018 Inglis Digital Monthly May Sale.

Based in Perth’s south-west suburban fringes, Quanah Park’s Rene & Trish des Bouvrie bred and reared Regal Pom at their at Oldbury nursery before selling him to Blake Ryan Racing for $60,000 at the 2020 Perth Magic Millions Yearling Sale.

Ryan brought him back east where he was knocked down for $120,000 to a Neasham Racing syndicate at the 2020 Inglis Ready 2 Race Sale.

Press Statement’s 4yo mare Notions broke through for her first city win in the Bowerman’s Hcp (1900m) at Canterbury last Wednesday for trainers Richard & Will Freedman and Dynamic Syndications.

“We were disappointed when she was ridden upside-down at Rosehill the previous Saturday,” Dynamic manager Adam Watt noted.  “Normally we wouldn’t go again that quickly but she licked the tin out so we backed up with our go-to jockey Nash Rawiller and he gave her an 11 out 10 ride.

“Notions races fiercely if sent forward into clear running and Nash found cover despite the small field.  When he pushed the button, our mare extended beautifully to hold out the favourite Chateaux Park (NZ).”

Notions was bred in Victoria’s Macedon Ranges by Miranda Park owner Gary O’Meara and was purchased by Dynamic Syndications for $90,000 at the 2020 Magic Millions National Sale.  Her dam She’s Sirius (Galileo) won two races over a mile at the Sydney provincials and she is a half-sister to Spectrolite (VRC Ottawa Stakes LR).

Press Statement (Hinchinbrook) sired 65 winners of 109 races in Australia & NZ last season and he was also productive in Hong Kong with winners like Free Foal, Packing Famous, Steel Win and Hurry Hurry Gain.

Vinery stands Press Statement for an $8,800 (inc GST) service fee and for bookings or further information, please contact Adam White (0414 800 918) or Harry Roach (0401 970 006).
