All Too Hard mare Danny’s St Darci bypassed the Group 3 Bow Mistress Stakes (1200m) in Hobart on Friday evening leaving trainer Archie Alexander to target mainland black-type while she’s in winning form.
Danny’s St Darci (4m All Too Hard – Darcibelle by Darci Brahma) is on a hat-trick after storming home in the Lawn Rules Hcp (1200m) at Moonee Valley a fortnight ago. Named after the late, great St Kilda football legend Danny Frawley, she responded to a superb ride by Celine Gaudray to reprise a similar win at Warrnambool on New Year’s Eve.
“I thought she would run a good second or third turning in because it was a muddling-run race,” Alexander admitted. “She had drawn in so it wasn’t anyone’s fault but a good horse and good jockey made all the difference and she got the job done.”
Danny’s St Darci was bred by Rosemont Stud using Vinery sire All Too Hard over a half-sister to Testa Rossa filly Twilight Royale (VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes Gr.2). She has earned $286,750 to date and has only finished out of the first two once of five starts at the Valley for a syndicate that includes Frawley’s wife Anita.
“She’s very special and Danny is looking down on all of us,” Alexander added. “When she hits form, it’s usually for four or five runs, so we will look for a Stakes race later this month.”
The Ballarat-based mare had raced in the Kevin Hayes Stakes (Gr.3, 1200m) at Caulfield this time last year and Tasracing media manager Peter Staples also enquired about a start in the Bow Mistress.
All Too Hard struck again when Must Go became his 50th individual 2yo winner at Moe on Wednesday. Despite shying at the winning post, the Lindsay Park debutant prevailed with a gutsy all-the-way victory over Godolphin colt Pantelone (Street Boss) in the Ladbrokes Plate (1100m).
“The game-plan was to hold the fence and I had plenty of horse underneath me,” jockey Daniel Stackhouse said. “He kept fighting and, being a late November foal, will keep improving.”
Must Go (2g All Too Hard – Madame Moustache by Hinchinbrook) is related to More The Ready filly Anatola (GCTC Silk Stocking LR) and was a $105,000 buy for Victor Lee from Barador Stud at the 2022 Inglis Classic Sale.
All Too Hard has 19 yearlings at this year’s Inglis Classic Sale with Vinery’s attractive colt from Lonyx (Lot 566) proving very popular on parade at Riverside Stables. “He’s an athlete with lots of quality,” Vinery bloodstock manager Adam White reported on Thursday. “He moves well and is quite forward.
“All Too Hard has sired 2yo Stakes-winners but generally they’re not up and about that much at two although this one looks like he will go early. He’s from a good, active family that we’ve worked with previously, and we’re very happy with how he’s turned out.”
