All Too Hard stablemates Dustland Fairytale and Cheerstothat capped a home-track treble for Group 1 trainer Lindsey Smith at Warrnambool on Tuesday

Smith started the winning run with Irish-bred import Prince Of Byron (New Bay) before Dustland Fairytale saluted for a Perth partnership and Cheerstothat for Limerick Lane owner Gerry Ryan.

Dustland Fairytale had won on Heavy 10 tracks during her first prep and appreciated similar conditions to claim the Creece Glazing Hcp (1700m).  “She’s owned by a few mates from Perth and was given every opportunity by Tayla (Childs).  It was a great ride,” Smith said.  “The mare is always giving away big starts but jumped today and worked into the clear in plenty of time.”

Makybe Racing’s Tony Santic bred her using All Too Hard over Golden Future (Mossman) who is a half-sister to South African Group 2 winner Dan De Lago (Encosta De Lago).  The All Too Hard – Mossman cross has a 68% winning strike-rate.

Smith also trained All Too Hard’s Makybe-bred sprinter Far Too Strong to wins at Ascot and Belmont in the west.  His latest winner by the Vinery sire is raced by former Perth Racing vice-chairman Lex Piper and fellow Sandgropers Kieran Glynn and Nick Petrides.

Cheerstothat had won a Ballarat 3yo maiden first-up earlier this month and she handled the rise in grade like a city filly in the Cassign Hcp (1100m).  “She didn’t know how to win at Ballarat and fought back after being headed today,” Smith said.  “I haven’t pushed her and she’s still growing.

“I will talk to Gerry and suggest we tip her out.  I can see her coming back in the spring and being competitive on Friday nights at Moonee Valley.”

Smith and Ryan have black-type record at The Valley with In The Boat (Nostradamus) going all the way there in the 2022 Abell Stakes (LR, 1200m).

Cheerstothat was the top-priced All Too Hard filly at the 2022 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale when making $200,000 through the Vinery consignment (as agent) for successful breeder Greg Perry.  Her dam Champagne Ready (More Than Ready) is a three-quarter sister to Gold Coast Bracelet (LR, 1400m) winner Grace And Harmony (Sebring).

The All Too Hard – More Than Ready cross has a sky-high 71% winning strike-rate.

“That was a tough win and her heart’s in the right place,” jockey John Allen reported.  “The saddle shifted forward so I went with her even though we were caught wide.  She kicked and then dug deep when she heard the other one coming.”
