Vinery sire Press Statement has opened his international account with brilliant debut winner Kitty Cat Chat in South Africa.

The Brett Crawford-trained filly took the field up to tearaway leader Gallic Girl in the straight and sprinted clear for a smooth victory in the Racing Association Plate (1250m) at Durbanville on the 8th of September.  Starting favourite first-up, she won eased down by more than two lengths under Greg Cheyne.

Kitty Cat Chat (3f Press Statement – Kiwi Karma (NZ) by Fast ‘N’ Famous) races for Ridgemont Stud’s Wayne & Belinda Kieswetter and their sons Craig & Ross.  “She came home in fine style for Greg from a wide draw,” Crawford said.  “And it was great to have Belinda and Craig on course to lead her in after the win.”

Press Statement’s first crop are poised to make their presence felt in 3yo feature races during the Australian spring carnivals and Kitty Cat Chat can continue in the same vein for Ridgemont Stud after they topped the Cape Town owners’ championship in 2019-20.

Kitty Cat Chat was conceived in Press Statement’s initial season at Vinery and is the first foal of Kiwi Karma (who is also known as What’s New Pussycat) who won a Golden Horseshoe Gr.2 and Prestige Classic LR in Singapore.   She was repatriated to Australia and sold by Attunga Stud with a PPT to Press Statement for $200,000 at the 2017 Inglis Chairman’s Sale.

Vinery stands Press Statement for a $13,750 (inc GST) service fee, payable on a live foal.  For further information, please contact Adam White (0414 800 918) or Harry Roach (0401 970 006).
