The first 2YO trials are always an exciting occasion and for Vinery sires, they saw two promising fillies step out for the first time.

Exceedance continues to build momentum with an exceptional number of 2YO winners and a growing number of Stakes Performers, and 2YO filly She’s Supreme looks no exception.

Stepping out after two jump outs, the filly clocked the equal-fastest time of the morning and the quickest time of her gender, putting the Group 3 Gimcrack Stakes in sight for trainer Marc Conners.

“She had two jump outs at home and won both of those quite well. As you see, she still doesn’t know a lot. Once she got to the front, she didn’t know how to go on with the job, but she was just floating a little bit. She’s got a lot of improvement to come and she’s a very nice filly going forward.”

She’s Supreme was purchased from the Vinery Stud Inglis Classic draft this year. She is out of winning Pierro mare Absolemm, a half-sister to Group 2 winner Glenfiddich.

Later in the morning, Champion First Season sire Ole Kirk’s daughter Shraddha turned heads when winning her trial impressively under Tommy Berry.

Trained by renowned juvenile trainer Michael Freedman, the filly showed she has all the qualities of a lovely filly in the making.

“Yeah, he (Tommy Berry) jumped her out here 10 days ago and really liked the way she went and was keen to get on her today.”

“She’s come a long way this prep… She is still very green, just watching her there, she sort of had her ears flopping around and having a good look at everything, but it’s a good day out for her and hopefully she comes through today and we can head to the Gimcrack.

“She’s a well put-together filly, we loved her at the sales obviously and went pretty strong to buy her. She’s got a nice future,” said Freedman.

A $250,000 purchase by Michael Freedman and Andrew Williams Bloodstock from Vinery at the Magic Millions Sale, Shraddha is from the family of sharp black-type juvenile Paprika.

Keeping it in the Vinery camp, Shraddha’s dam Spicy has an exceptional yearling half-sister by Hawaii Five Oh to offer in 2027.  She will return to Vinery this season to be served by new Vinery sire Tropicus.

Ole Kirk was well represented at the trials, equalling Champion sire Zoustar with the most runners of the morning.

Vinery’s representation stood strong at the first Sydney juvenile trials of the season, with sale graduates accounting for almost 10% of the 55 2YOs to step out at Kensington.

With the next generation beginning to emerge, the strong showing reinforces Vinery’s position as a significant source of racetrack talent.

That strength was also on display at the elite level over the weekend, with Vinery graduates Sepals and Regal Award finishing second and third respectively in the Gr.1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes.

From the season’s first 2YO trials to the highest level on the racetrack, Vinery graduates continue to make their presence felt.
