A Zoustar filly will head to Perth after topping Vinery Stud’s Day 2 draft at the Magic Millions National Foal Sale on the Gold Coast.
Group 1 Bloodstock’s Matt Becker bid $220,000 on behalf of WA owner Santo Guagliardo for the filly from Run All Night (Charge Forward). That equalled the price paid for Vinery’s Deep Field filly on Day 1.
“Matt picked her out on the sale-grounds earlier in the week,” Guagliardo said. “She’s an exceptional type and she’s by Zoustar! We will take her back home before making any decisions.”
Catalogued as Lot 362, she comes from a family with 8 black-type winners world-wide below the third-dam. Four of them were 2yo Stakes winners including Rory’s Jester flyer Catnipped who won the VRC Maribyrnong Plate Gr.3, 1000m) at Flemington and Magic Millions 2yo Classic (RL, 1200m).
Her new home is on 160 acres south of Perth at Waroona where Guagliardo has just launched Ridgeport Farm with foundation sire Rommel (Commands). He doubled up when the Belmont winter season commenced with Group 3 Belmont Sprint winner Bustler (Playing God) and his Neville Parnham-trained stablemate Snowdome (Rommel).
Guagliardo also races with Lloyd Kennewell in Adelaide and won the Cinderella Stakes (LR, 1050m) with Show Royale (Showtime) at Morphettville in March. Then they parted with $110,00 for a Russian Revolution-Exotic Blend yearling filly at the Adelaide Magic Millions.
His Zoustar Gold Coast graduate was a Top 5 Filly on the Magic Millions leader-board on Friday and that sale pushed Vinery’s overall revenue to $1.26 million at an average of $126,000.
Vinery Stud’s dual Group I winner Ole Kirk was also popular at the Gold Coast with his foals averaging $111,667 including three that sold for $100,000 or more. He finished 8th on the general sires list and runner-up on the first-season table. The top-priced Ole Kirk was the chestnut colt from Rosari Farm that made $200,000 to the bid of Redwall Bloodstock. His dam Oxford Angel (Nicconi) is the from the ‘Oxford’ family of stakes winners.
Redwall Bloodstock’s David Redvers and Hannah Wall had purchased Vinery’s Deep Field filly ($220k) and Farnan colt ($175k) on Day 1.
Exceedance foals sold to $100,000 with his filly from Dublin Lass (O’Reilly) leading the way from the Edinburgh Park Dispersal Sale as Lot 1308. The mare was a Stakes winner in Sydney and Brisbane and her third foal was purchased by Kitchwin Hills.
The Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale commences on Tuesday morning and the first of Vinery Stud’s 31 lots to parade is Excuse Me (Lot 562). Offered off the track, she is a 3yo More Than Ready (USA) full-sister to Group 1 Kiwi mare Spring Heat.
