Headwater 3yo Keep Reading kick-started a very successful afternoon for Vinery Stud and the Jolly family at Morphettville on Saturday.
Trained by Richard & Chantelle Jolly, he made short work of three rivals in the Dominant Hcp (1200m). Hours later, Adelaide star Behemoth won the Spring Stakes (Gr.3, 1200m) on protest for Vinery champion All Too Hard.
Keep Reading had blitzed a Morphettville 2yo maiden last month and started a short-priced $1.70 favourite to double up under Jake Toeroek. “Although it was only a small field, we were impressed with how easy it looked,” Richard Jolly said. “He’s a promising young horse with a professional attitude and natural ability.

Arctic Thunder (Randwick) was first cab off the rank and she was followed by Contessa (Eagle Farm), Ashra Jahre (Tamworth), Keep Reading and Free State who saluted in the last race at Goulburn on Saturday.
Free State defeated Iolanthe (Vancouver) and Role Play (Headwater) for owner-breeder Frank Meduri and a syndicate that includes trainer Brad Widdup and David Price’s wife Jenny Chapman.
