Magic Millions chief executive Barry Bowditch is confident Singapore buyers will continue their involvement at the Gold Coast Yearling Sale despite COVID-19 restrictions into Australia.
“The best way to maximise a horse’s money is to have as many people here on the grounds as you possibly can,” Bowditch said ahead of the opening session on Tuesday. “However, our online facilities will give all international buyers that aren’t here the best opportunity to still play in the market.”
Singapore trainers have targeted Vinery-sired yearlings in recent years and that’s paid off with All Too Hard who has built a 66% winning strike-rate at Kranji. His Cliff Brown-prepared gelding In All His Glory won for the third time since September with an electrifying turn of foot to defeat Federation (Written Tycoon) on Saturday.
“I did tell Cliff In All His Glory was by far our best chance today,” jockey Oscar Chavez revealed. “He had been working very well and I just left him where he was happy in the run. The pace was crazy up front and as soon as the gap came up in the straight, I said ‘you go boy’.”
In All His Glory (4g All Too Hard – Dirty by Hussonet) had failed to reach an $80,000 reserve at the 2018 Magic Millions before a subsequent off-shore transfer. He has earned the equivalent of AUD 130,000 from just 8 starts for Tarnpirr Stables.
His dam Dirty is owned by Vinery partner Greg Perry and she won a Vo Rogue Plate LR in Brisbane before retiring to stud. Her first filly (by Rubick) arrived in August before being bred back to Written Tycoon.
Last year on the Gold Coast, Singapore trainer Michael Clements paid $110,000 for the Star Turn – Spoleto colt offered by Vinery (as agent). Leading breeder Alan Bell will sell his Star Turn full-sister out of Spoleto (USA) through Vinery as Lot 824 this Friday.
All Too Hard has 15 yearlings catalogued for the Magic Millions this week leading into the $2 million Magic Millions 3YO Guineas RL next Saturday. His filly Forbidden Love is on the third line of betting at $6 following a last-start victory in the Gosford Guineas LR.
Vinery’s first All Too Hard yearling to parade is the colt out of Kachiko (Lot 430) being offered on behalf of Vinery partner Steve McCann. Her dam is a High Chaparral half-sister to Rock Kingdom (AJC Epsom Hcp Gr.1).
