The stars aligned for All Woke when she carried So You Think’s silks to a first-up victory in the Stonehaven Wines Hcp (1050m) at Morphettville on Saturday.

All Woke is a very promising 2yo filly by All Too Hard from So You Think mare Think Out Loud and she overcame debutante nerves to lead home a Vinery-sired quinella from Pure Aqua (Headwater).

“She’s still raw and was a bit edgy in the gates when one broke loose two stalls down,” winning jockey Lachlan Neindorf reported.  “We stepped a fraction slow but from that point she handled it like a pro.  I gave her a squeeze and she built momentum.  She doesn’t really know how to hit the line yet and I can see her getting out to a mile.

“It was a cruisy ride and winning in these colours is a privilege.  So You Think was one of my favourites and this means a lot to me.”

All Woke faced the starter for the first time with some eminent credentials of her own having been bred and sold by Tyreel Stud’s Linda and Laurence Monds for $160,000 at the 2023 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.  Tyreel was also the launching pad for All Too Hard’s multiple Group 1-winning sprinter Behemoth.

“She’s been progressing and that was a super win,” trainer Phillip Stokes said.  “We knew she was good enough to come here after her last jump-out at Pakenham when she went pretty good against another one we rate highly.”

That stablemate Comanche Miss (Castelvecchio) came out and finished fourth in last Saturday’s Redoute’s Choice Stakes (LR, 1100m) at Caulfield.”

Stokes trains All Woke for a syndicate put together by his son Tommy that includes Think Big Stud, Rob Chapman and several first-time owners plus Shaun and Dion Moroney, Andrew Dick and Andrew Underwood who were 700kms away at the Streaky Bay Cup.

He also prepared Think Out Loud and her half-sister Miss Gunpowder (Pendragon) who won a Thousand Guineas Prelude (Gr.2, 1400m) at Caulfield.  They’re closely-related to Qld Tatt’s Tiara (Gr.1, 1500m) winner Absolut Glam (Snowland).

The Exceedance – Miss Gunpowder filly (Lot 152) being offered by Vinery (as agent) at next month’s Inglis Easter Yearling Sale was bred by Vinery partners Steve McCann and Neil Werrett with Seymour Bloodstock’s David Thomas.

They received $380,000 for the first-crop Exceedance filly from Miss Gunpowder at the 2023 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale.  Subsequently named Jupiter Hills, she finished three lengths adrift of Odinson on debut in the $500,000 Inglis Nursery (RL, 1000m) at Randwick in December.

Jupiter Hills had been backed into a $4.80 second-favourite and there were excuses for a filly who will pay to follow when she resumes a more mature individual in the autumn.  Stewards reported she was inconvenienced by Blue Stratum in the Inglis Nursery.  He commenced awkwardly then shifted in and bumped her soon after jumping.

“She presented but peaked late,” jockey Tim Clark told trainers Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott.  “She might have come to the end of her prep.”

The other Exceedance filly (Lot 499) at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale is the full-sister to star colt Dublin Down (Lot 499).  She has been entered by Alma Vale and Kitchwin Hills (as agent) and will parade as the penultimate yearling to go under the hammer at Riverside Stables.
