Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes winner Exceedance is working through his first book like a professional at Vinery Stud.
Vinery General Manager Peter Orton reports the young bull already has over 50 mares scanned in foal with positives from outside studs and clients coming in daily. “Exceedance is a super horse and has let down into a beast,” he said. “After floating up from Sydney, he settled in straightaway and has exceeded our expectations in the barn.
“We always take the precaution with first year horses of initially capping their numbers to see how they manage the workload,” Orton explained. “But Exceedance is covering like an old hand two months into the season and that’s allowed us to open up his book for a few lucky additions.
“Exceedance has enormous potential at stud. He was an explosive sprinter, with an unbelievable turn of foot and what he achieved in just 9 starts was amazing. His sire Exceed And Excel is a terrific source of early speed and the bottom line has great depth to back it up.”
His NZ-bred dam Bonnie Mac (Thorn Park) won a Proud Miss Stakes LR at Morphettville and she is one of four black-type winners from Gold Class (Gold Brose).
Vinery introduced Exceedance at the competitively-priced service fee of $38,500 (inc GST), which is not payable until you get a live foal. To take advantage of the opening, broodmare owners can book in by calling Adam White (0414 800 918) or Harry Roach (0401 970 006).
