Vinery sire All Too Hard has built an outstanding record in Hong Kong and that success was the catalyst for two of his yearlings making six-figures at the Magic Millions National Sale this week.

NZ agent Bevan Smith paid $155,000 for the colt from Sawn Off Shotgun (Lot 1685) on Wednesday following a $100,000 bid by agent John Foote for a colt out of Computer (Lot 1489) on Tuesday.  They were both graduates of the Baramul Stud consignment to the Gold Coast.

Smith’s purchase on behalf of Pukekohe trainer Steven Cole carries the same All Too Hard – More Than Ready (USA) cross as Champion Hong Kong Sprinter Wellington and $4.1 million National Broodmare Sale graduate Forbidden Love.  “All Too Hard is a stallion doing really well all over the world, particularly in Hong Kong, so there’s the trade aspect to this colt as well,” Smith said after getting the better of Hong Kong underbidder Ross Lao.

“He’s one of the standout physical types in the sale and the fact that he’s out of a More Than Ready mare adds a bit of sharpness.  He will go back to New Zealand and that gives the owners the option to trade or race him.  But he won’t be going to the (NZ) Ready To Run Sale.”

Multiple Group 1 winner Wellington heads the All Too Hard contingent in Hong Kong and Sunday’s Sha Tin winner Bundle Of Charm increased his record there to 14 individual winners of 51 races.

Bundle Of Charm (4g All Too Hard – Dubleanny by Dubleo) was bred and sold by Vinery for $46,000 at the 2019 Magic Millions National Foal Sale and victory in the Oriental Express Hcp (1200m) sent his earning to AUD 652,000 for owner Colin Lo Chor Cheong and trainer John Size.

The All Too Hard colt from Computer (Street Cry) was bought by John Foote (as agent) for an undisclosed Hong Kong client.  He’s a younger half-brother to Stuart Kendrick’s last-start Sunshine Coast 2yo winner Torque I Tee (Shalaa).

All Too Hard finished third for turnover ($493,500) and his colt from Sawn Off Shotgun was Top 3 on the colts leader-board at the Magic Millions National Yearling Sale.

Vinery sire Exceedance also appeared on the Day 2 leader-board with a first-crop colt from To Be Sure (Lot 1746) that sold for $100,000 to the Three Amigos HK Syndicate.  Bred in partnership by Attunga Stud, he’s out of a Sydney-winning three-quarter sister to Shanzero (NZ Wellington Stakes Gr.3) and What’s The Mail (MRC Doveton Stakes LR).

All Too Hard will stand for an unchanged $38,500 service fee at Vinery this year alongside Ole Kirk ($55,000), Exceedance ($33,000), Star Turn ($27,500), Headwater ($13,200) and Casino Prince ($5,500).  All fees (inc. GST) for payment on a live foal.  For bookings or further information, contact Adam White (0414 800 918) or Harry Roach (0401 970 006).
