Vinery Stud’s in-form stallion Star Turn sired his third 2yo winner this month when Naked Eye overcame a wide trip at Scone on Thursday.

Trained locally by Stephen Jones, Naked Eye reversed a last-start failure to claim the Elders Killara Feedlot Maiden (1000m) from older fillies & mares Viganotto (Charge Forward) and A Tender Lady (Zariz).  The Star Turn filly had been in commission at Mudgee on July 2 and travelled well during the event, however, she didn’t appear to handle the tight, turning track.

“She made the task at hand look easy even after finding herself three wide the whole run,” Jones said.  “She got home by two lengths under a great ride from jockey Clayton Gallagher.”

Naked Eye was bred by Baramul Stud’s Gerry Harvey and races for a ladies syndicate that includes Anne Toynton, Robyn Roughan, Simone Gomes, Jenny Robinson, Tracy Rodger, Lisa Fitton, Ellie Maalouf and Pam Galvin.

She’s the first foal from unraced mare No Clothes On (Medaglia D’oro) who has a yearling filly by All Too Hard and a filly foal by Exceedance.  Second-dam Godiva Rock (Stratum) won at Moonee Valley and was also Group 1-placed in the 2013 MRC Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) won by Miracles Of Life.

Sydney filly Saltaire had opened Star Turn’s 2yo account this season in the $500,000 ATC Inglis Nursery (RL, 1000m) at Randwick in December and his Queensland-based son Turn Bird added the QTIS Jewel Plate (940m) in March.

The first of his three juvenile winners this month arrived at the Sunshine Coast on July 9 when flashy chestnut Winsome Star dived on the line first-up in the Lifesaver Helicopter Hcp (1200m) for trainers John Symonds and Sheila Laxon.

Another 2yo debutant Centarus sprouted wings to claim the Men Matter Maiden Plate (1150m) at the Gold Coast on July 15.  He’s prepared by Chris Anderson for Neil Werrett, Max Whitby and Dave Giesemann.

Star Turn’s juvenile division has helped maintain his huge lead for the best winning strike rate (65%) of any stallion on the Australian Top 50 premiership table.  He will stand at Vinery for a $27,500 (inc GST) service fee this year payable on a live foal.  For bookings or further information, contact Adam White (0414 800 918) or Harry Roach (0401 970 006).
