A stronger than ever Hong Kong buying-bench combined to top turnover with a $4.71 million spend at the Inglis Ready2Race Sale on Tuesday.

They accounted for 27 of the 98 lots to change hands at Riverside Stables and among them were three colts by All Too Hard.  That was hardly surprising considering the Vinery sire’s successful record in Hong Kong led by Champion Sprinter Wellington.

Boomer Bloodstock agent Craig Rounsefell paid $200,000 for the All Too Hard – Collins colt (Lot 55) from NZ-based Cheltenham Stables.  His dam is an unraced full-sister to Melbourne Cup heroine and two-time Australian Horse of the Year Makybe Diva (Desert King).

“He looks rock solid and will keep progressing in Hong Kong,” Rounsefell said.  “I liked his action breezing and he clocked a smart time (10.60s).”

Boomer Bloodstock already has an international black-type strike-rate with Vinery having purchased Hit the Road for $160,000 at the 2018 Keeneland September Yearling Sale.  A Group 1-winning son of legendary Vinery shuttler More Than Ready (USA), he has won four Stakes races to the elite level in the 2021 Frank Kilroe Mile (Gr.1, 1600m) at Santa Anita.

Hit the Road is still racing with trainer Dan Blacker and was last seen finishing fourth in the City of Hope Mile (Gr.2, 1600m) at Santa Anita on September 30.

Rounsefell also bought Leather Vanguard out of the Vinery consignment to the 2020 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale.  A son of Medaglia d’Oro (USA), he was sidelined soon after an exceptional win at Sha Tin second time out for trainer Benno Yung last year.

Leading Hong Kong agent Willie Leung outlaid $400,000 for the top-priced Capitalist colt (Lot 97) from Blake Ryan Racing on Tuesday and he was straight back into the fray with $140,000 for the All Too Hard – Givem Hell colt (Lot 98) from the same vendor.

“Hong Kong will suit him as the All Too Hards perform on grass and synthetic tracks and this colt looks strong and athletic,” Leung said.  “There are five Hong Kong trainers with me today and they’re all very happy.  The All Too Hard colt will be trained by Francis Lui.”

Hong Kong trainer Ricky Yiu weighed in with $90,000 for the All Too Hard colt from Flitter Bye (Lot 90).  He’s from an Exceed And Excel mare who was a Randwick winner for Kris Lees.

Yiu had also targeted All Too Hard colts at the 2022 Inglis and Magic Millions 2YO Sale.  The Riverside Stables graduate from Be Happy (Bernardini) cost $230,000 and has been named Bowser.  He was exported in July and is back at Sha Tin after two months in Conghua.

The Magic Millions graduate from Divergence (Big Brown) sold for $100,000 and is still in Australia.

Two other six-figure sales rounded out All Too Hard’s draft in the last hour of trade on Tuesday.  The colt from Testa Sarah (Lot 216) was knocked down to Matt Vella for $165,000 and the colt out of Tangerine (Lot 212) was bought by Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott for $100,000.

All Too Hard was second on the leader-board for turnover ($695,000) and average ($139,000) – for more than three lots sold – at the Inglis Ready2Race Sale.
